The most wins of the Ice Hockey World Championships is 28, achieved by Canada in 1920, 1924, 1928, 1930–32, 1934–35, 1937–39, 1948, 1950–52, 1955, 1958–59, 1961, 1994, 1997, 2003–04, 2007, 2015–16, 2021 and 2023.
The world championships are staged by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) and began in 1920, with the first three events taking place at the Summer (1920) and Winter Olympic Games (1924 and 1928). Canada secured their 28th gold medal with a 5–2 win over Germany on 28 May 2023 in Tampere, Finland.
