The fastest average time to solve a 2x2x2 rotating puzzle cube is 0.86 seconds, first achieved by Sujan Feist (USA) at the Kids America Christmas Clash OH 2025 event in Coshocton, Ohio, USA, on 13 December 2025. Feist equalled his record at the Cubing the Coast MS 2026 event in Gulfport, Mississippi, USA, on 22 August 2026.
Feist recorded solve times of 0.86, 1.02, (0.56), (1.42) and 0.70 seconds, with the fastest and the slowest times discounted from the average as per World Cube Association (WCA) rules.
He surpassed the previous mark of 0.88 seconds, which was set by Yiheng Wang at the Hangzhou Open 2024 event in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China, on 15 December 2024.
