The longest edible mushroom measures 59 cm (1 ft 11.22 in) and is a Pleurotus eryngii grown by HOKUTO Corporation (Japan). The mushroom was measured at Mushroom Research Laboratory of the company, in Nagano, Nagano, Japan, on 25 July 2014.

The mushroom weighs 3.58 kg (7 lb 14.24 oz). It took 66 days to grow the record breaking mushroom. One of the difficulties faced by HOKUTO Corporation was making sure the mushroom did not fall and break under its own weight. The record attempt was the way for the company to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
