The first woman to win a Primetime Creative Arts Emmy in the category of Outstanding Stunt Coordination for a Comedy Series or Variety Program is Shauna Duggins (USA), who picked up her trophy for her work on the first season of GLOW (Netflix, 2017–19) at the Emmy's 70th awards ceremony on 8–9 September 2018.
Duggins - a former gymnast and martial artist - also won the same award the following year for her continuing work on GLOW. The comedy-drama streaming series is a fictionalized account of the "Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling", the syndicated women's wrestling circuit founded by David McLane that first aired on US television in 1986. Duggins' combined background in sports and stunt performance translated perfectly the world of wrestling, allowing her to choreograph complex and dynamic bouts between the lead actresses.
During her career as a TV and movie stunt performer, Duggins has doubled for Cameron Diaz, Charlize Theron and Jennifer Garner, and has twice won a Taurus World Stunt Award. TV credits include The X-Files, 24, Alias, Prison Break, Lost, Fringe, Wonder Woman, Criminal Minds, Game of Thrones, The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window and American Gigolo. On the big screen, credits include Charlie's Angels 2000), Planet of the Apes (2001), Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002), Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004), Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008), G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009), Fast Five (2011), Iron Man 3 (2013), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Ford v Ferrari (2019) and Licorice Pizza (2021).
