The greatest certain altitude at which any flowering plants have been found is 6,400 m (21,000 ft) on Mt Kamet (7,756 m (25,447 ft) in the Himalayas by N. D. Jayal in 1955. They were Ermania himalayensis belonging to the crucifer or cabbage family, and Ranunculus lobatus belonging to the buttercup family.
