On 18 June 2020, Minecraft (2009) was inducted in the Video Game Hall of Fame as part of the 2020 class, along with Bejewled (2001), King’s Quest (1984) and Centipede (1980). This makes it the first game from the Seventh Generation of videogames consoles (2005–13) – which includes the PS3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii – to be inducted into the Video Game Hall of Fame.

The Videogame Hall of Fame has been operated by the Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, New York, since 2015.
