The longest distance ice swim ratified by the International Ice Swimming Association for a male is 6 kilometres (3.7 miles), swam by Krzysztof Gajewski (Poland) in a lake at Czarna Góra Resort near Sienna, Poland, on 19 April 2023. Gajewski completed the swim in 1 hour 46 minutes 16 seconds.
The average water temperature during his swim was 4.84°C (40.7°F). As per IISA rules, an ice swim must take place in water below 5°C (41°F) wearing only a standard swimsuit, swim cap and goggles.
Gajewski bettered his own record of 5 km (3.1 mi) set in a lake at Kopalnia Wrocław near Paniowice, Poland, just the previous month on 12 March 2023.
