On 14 February 2019, Billy Joel (USA) played his 107th concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City, USA. He first played the iconic venue on 14 December 1978, and has been staging one show a month there since 27 January 2014 as part of his Billy Joel in Concert tour.
To celebrate his 100th show (18 July 2018), Joel was joined on stage by Bruce Springsteen for “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out” and “Born to Run”.
Joel’s residency at Madison Square Garden (MSG) will continue for as long as there is demand for tickets, with dates already pencilled in until September 2019. The Billy Joel in Concert tour is scheduled to wrap up in Arlington, Texas, on 12 October 2019, and is expected to be among the top 10 highest-grossing concert tours of all time once the final takings are totted up.
Elton John’s total of 64 headlining shows at MSG was beaten by Joel’s 65th concert on 1 July 2015. On 2 June 2019, Joel is set to play his 65th consecutive monthly show at the venue – and his 111th concert in total at MSG as headliner.
