The Soviet Union won the first two tournaments and the Unified Team (a team consisting of 12 of the 15 former Soviet republics) took the title in 1992. The United States team that won gold at London 2012 were: Seimone Augustus, Sue Bird, Swin Cash, Tamika Catchings, Tina Charles, Sylvia Fowles, Asjha Jones, Angel McCoughtry, Maya Moore, Candace Parker, Diana Taurasi (see record ID 65219) and Lindsay Whalen.
